Joining ABAG
ABAG offers member cities, towns and counties access to valuable benefits, including restoration and improvement grants, energy efficiency grants and rebates and technical assistance resources for policy planning and implementation.
Membership in ABAG is voluntary and dues are paid annually. Every local jurisdiction within the nine county Bay Area is currently a member of ABAG. An overview of ABAG membership dues, programs and services is available in the Budget and Work 91̽»¨ogram.
ABAG offers many resources to members to support comprehensive regional planning and advance shared priorities for housing, the environment and transportation.
Funds for Housing Elements
ABAG since 2020 has used state funds designated for regional governments to help member cities, towns and counties develop and implement their Housing Elements.
Regional Housing Technical Assistance
ABAG provides members with shared consultant services, tools and resources to assist with various housing-related challenges.
Board Eligibility
ABAG membership allows elected officials from member jurisdictions to serve on the Executive Board, ABAG’s decision-making body for regional planning, policy and funding decisions, including the regional housing need allocation (RHNA, and various grant programs.
Grant 91̽»¨ograms
ABAG members receive timely updates about key grant programs. Additionally, the ABAG Executive Board votes to designate locally nominated geographies that can determine eligibility for transportation funding administered by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission.
